A UNIQUE TWIST ON RACING

I have played many different racing games, of course, Mario Kart is my staple but now and again I love to try non-mainstream racing games that have unique twists. Tiny Racer is one of those gems that puts a spin on racing games. You get to race in a variety of mini cars, think of Toy Story meets racing and you have your game. I loved the sheer uniqueness of this title and how much detail went into every single map you race on. You really do feel as if you are in a small Hot Wheels car in a big giant world. There is more focus on precision steering and maneuvering in this racing game compared to others in the same genre. I do feel it's a great game to just enjoy on the go in between other big titles out right now.

CHOOSE YOUR CAR AND AWAY YOU GO

In Tiny Racer, you need to unlock maps as you win races, at the start only two maps are available so practice away! I know I had some trouble, in the beginning, getting used to the steering mechanics, and opted to choose a more compact car as opposed to some of the other options available at the start. The contrast between the small cars and the giant environment can also be disorientating at times so playing it in docked or tabletop mode is better than in handheld. Tiny Racer provides a great variety of maps, and cars to race along with the challenge of being in a smaller vehicle. One can tell a lot of care went into designing, not just the cars themselves, but the racing maps as well this game provides 15 maps to race on. If the maps don't set this game apart on its own nothing else will. It's a title I hope to see expanded with updates such as even more maps.

RACE ALONE OR WITH A FRIEND

Besides offering 3 different game modes (Tournament, Time Trial, and Arcade), Tiny Racer also supports local multiplayer for up to two players. There are also three different difficulty settings, so if you need to work your way up, players can feel free to do so. I like how in Arcade Mode you can race on your favorite tracks (one unlocked of course). This game sure packs a lot of potential in such a tiny package but it delivers well on all the basics of a great racing game.
